Bangkok, revisited
17-21 May
Bangkok
THAILAND
Much to my delight, the Engineer agreed to go on a trip to Bangkok with me. Between the two of us, I'm the more interested one in traveling. While I was in Manila, he would always say NO to me whenever I suggested that we travel. So I was happy that he was "game" this time.
We flew on Cebu Pacific to Bangkok. It was only the Engineer's second time to travel outside of the country so he's not that aware of the "rules." We almost had a problem when he was asked to step aside for inspection at the security check because his pocket was "thick." Imagine, he had 40 thousand pesos in cash in his wallet! In case you don't also know, taking more than Php10,000 outside of the Philippines is prohibited by law. Fortunately, the inspectors didn't really count the money and believed the Engineer when he said that he only had Php20k. Even then, we almost got into trouble but I said, with confidence of course, that I didn't have any peso with me. I just had dollars! Wahahaha. Taray!
Our trip was more of R&R than tourist-y. We went to the mall or toured the city during the day and stayed and slept at the hotel at night. We enjoyed eating and having Thai massage more than actually going around and around in the hot and humid weather so it was not surprising that we were not able to do the things we're supposed to do like ride on an elephant or have a picture with the tiger (Safari Tour). We just visited MBK mall, reclining buddha, temple of the dawn and had a river cruise of Chao Phraya.
Pictures are here and some tips are here.
