Manila's Milenyo
28-30 September
Manila
PHILIPPINES
On the day of my flight, I saw Little One's YM status: Bawal umuwi, may bagyo! So I sent her a message: Harangan man ng baha!
Haha. Then I called Emirates to confirm that the flight was not cancelled or diverted. QR's flight the day before was diverted to Hong Kong because of the typhoon Milenyo that hit Manila. The city was a complete disaster. Tsk, tsk. Anyway, I chose to fly with EK for the following reasons: (1) I got firm seats and (2) I had to buy the camel keychain at Dubai Duty Free which my mother has been nagging me about for 6 months now.
I was checked-in at 2130H, exactly one hour prior to boarding so I got the chance to roam around the Qatar Duty Free where I bought Bailey's and perfumes! I arrived in Manila at 4pm but got out of the airport at about 530pm because I had to get my checked-in baggage which contained...plates! Hehehe. Ex-roomie's sister gave me a dinner set which I brought home for Nanay dear.
While waiting for [identities protected] at the Mall of Asia, I bought groceries I needed for my cooking adventures, watched the spectacular fireworks at 7pm, met Sri Lankan Tiger's brother, and ate dinner at Kitaro. At about 10pm, [identities protected] arrived so they had dinner at Sbarro. Then we had dessert at Chocolat after which we transferred to Blue Wave to drink Bailey's. We went home at 330am.
The following morning, I met Nanay, Mr. Wise's wife and Ex-roomie's daughter. My flight back to Doha was at 6pm so I had to be at the airport by 3pm. Walang kuryente sa airport. But the good news was that I got in without any hassle. I even met one of my colleagues at the University Student Council while queuing at the Immigration. He asked if I were married. He's not. Haha!
At 230am, I was back in Doha. I was held back for a while by the Customs officer because I brought some canned goods. They're stricter now that it's Ramadan so they were checking for anything that contains pork. Good thing they didn't see that one of my canned goods contains pork fat and pork liver. More than the pork, I was actually afraid they'd see the pirated dvd's and bible I brought for Little One's Uncle. ;)
All the way back from Manila, I was listening to Kenny Rogers' music and feeling senti. He was my father's favorite.
